My Urban Garden
It’s passed the Victoria Long weekend and Toronto should be free and clear of frost. I planted most of my gardens over the long weekend, a combination of vegetables and flowers.
Two weeks into the plantings and things are going well. I bought some of my plants more mature than others and have already picked some of the fruits of my labour; my cherry tomato basket is full of tomatoes in a variety of stages.
The back yard is full of tomatoes, green and yellow peppers, green and yellow zucchini, beans, carrots, beets, cucumber, lettuce, kale, spinach, onions and strawberries – and I’m sure I’m missing something.
The front is our flower gardens. I have naturally growing pansies in my front yard and I was able to transplant them into the flower garden. Unfortunately I don’t have a picture of the hilarious site of all of the pansies sprouting through the grass.
I’m finding the work very rewarding and encourage everyone to have a little garden, even if it is just a small one in a planter box.
